Basketball Terminology: Cross Screen

Cross Screen

A cross screen in basketball is when a player cuts across the width of the court, or lane, to set a screen for a teammate on the opposite side of the floor. This play typically creates an opportunity for the screened player to receive a quick pass and score, often with a layup or post-up shot.
